JUBILANT STUDENTS CELEBRATE GARANGAO FEST AT M.E.S

As a part of 50th year celebrations and to inculcate the values of sharing and gratitude, M.E.S Indian School celebrated Garangao with fanfare and traditional gaiety. Garangao is celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan and is the most awaited celebration for children during the days of fasting in Ramadan. Students shared their happiness, love and affection with their friends and teachers. Children clad in their traditional Qatari costumes with special cotton Garangao bags and sang the special Garangao song.

In a ceremony conducted at the Conference Hall of the school, a line of activities was arranged for the students to mark the day as a memorable one. Traditional Qatari costume presentations, PowerPoint Presentations, speeches and narrations on Garangao, recitation from the Holy Quran, Arabic songs, Garangao songs, traditional Qatari dance performances, quiz contest, colouring competitions etc. were among the activities carried out by the students. Addressing the gathering Dr. Hameeda Kadar, the school Principal urged the students to embrace the values of the religion wholeheartedly and continue to foster a spirit of community and goodwill.

The function started with a prayer by Master Mohammad Umair Mujeeb and Master Aryan Unnikrishnan, the Head Prefect compared the programme. Master Ahmad Faisal, Head Boy welcomed the gathering and Miss Sheza Fatima, Head Girl proposed a vote of thanks. Students, teachers and school officials were among those who attended the programme. Mr Usman Mayyeri, Head of the Department of Arabic, Urdu and Islamic Studies and Mr. Jahfar Niyas Para, Coordinator, the Department of Social Science along with a team of teachers coordinated the event.
