Tameem Ahmed (Class 7-I) of M E S Indian School achieved first place, while Jiya Maria Jitto (Class 7-S) secured second in the Nammude Adukkala Thottam (NAD) Young Farmer Contest 25 held recently. The contest was organized by NAD, an organization affiliated with the Indian Cultural Centre and under the patronage of the Embassy of India, to raise awareness about organic farming and motivate the community in Qatar to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.
As part of this green initiative, NAD distributed free vegetable saplings (four varieties) to all contestants, along with valuable guidance on cultivation. The contest saw enthusiastic participation from students across various schools in Qatar. Fourteen students from Classes 3 to 10 of M.E.S. Indian School registered for the competition, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and environmental care.
At Jaivakarshikolsavam 2025, the winners received awards and gifts in recognition of their outstanding achievements as young green champions. Reflecting the inspiring motto “My values define my identity,” the event supports Qatar’s national goal to promote the cultivation of fresh, organic, and locally grown produce—encouraging students to develop a lifelong connection with nature.
Dr. Hameeda Kadar, Principal, M.E.S. Indian School, commended the students’ efforts and enthusiasm for sustainable development and environmental conservation. The school management also extended full support and appreciation to the participants and the teachers who guided them.
