The 51st Annual Athletic Meet commenced with fervour and a spirit of sportsmanship. With the flame of enthusiasm lit and the spirit of competition ignited, the 51st Annual Athletic Meet began on a high note, promising a day full of passion and perseverance.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Femi Seun Ogunode, the Chief Guest, a renowned athlete and former record holder of the Asian 100m sprint event, who emphasized the importance of commitment and dedication in sports during his keynote address. Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar congratulated all participants and winners, appreciating the relentless efforts of the Physical Education Department, teachers, and student volunteers.
Mr. Badarudhin Gulam Mohiyuddin, Director of Sports MES Governing Board was the Guest of Honour, who officially declared the Athletic Meet open, thus marking the beginning of the highly anticipated sporting events. The Guest of Honour, Mr Mustafa Raafat Habib addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of sports in shaping character and discipline. The event was also attended by the members of the School Governing Board, dignitaries, key functionaries, staff and students of M E S Indian School.
The ceremony commenced with the march past, oath-taking, and the Olympic torch run. The sports oath was administered by the Sports Captain, Adnan Ashraf, reaffirming the athletes’ pledge to uphold the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship throughout the meet. Students from all houses of the school participated enthusiastically in a variety of track and field events, displaying exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries honoured the medal winners during the prize distribution ceremony.
The opening ceremony also featured special cultural and thematic performances by students from the Girls’ Section, Junior Section, and Boys’ Section, adding colour and energy to the occasion and showcasing the diverse talents of the student body.
The “Wings of Wonder” welcome dance presented by the Girls’ Section under the guidance of Ms. Mariam Sameer captivated the audience with its elegance. The “Flex Beat” display by the Boys’ Section, led by Mr. Binoy K. K. showcased power and coordination, while the “Little Umbrella, Little Feet” dance by the Junior Section, directed by Ms. Reshma C. A., added charm and liveliness to the event. Mr. Salim J Nadaf, Coordinator, of the Department of Physical Education, coordinated the 51st Annual Athletic Meet in collaboration with faculty members. Nimisha Liz Abraham, Head Prefect, delivered the welcome address and the Head Boy, Kamaal Bhadran proposed a vote of thanks for the event.
