M.E.S. Indian School observed Gandhi Jayanti with a series of engaging activities for students from Classes I to XII, highlighting the life, values and enduring teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, thus marking his 157th birth anniversary.
The Kindergarten Section of the school celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with patriotic fervour through a special assembly. The programme featured a delightful presentation by a KG II student dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, who briefly spoke about the values of truth and non-violence. A special costume parade followed, with children portraying and introducing eminent national leaders and freedom fighters.
The celebrations featured a diverse range of creative activities. Classes I and II participated in a Dress Up as Gandhiji, a fancy-dress activity portraying Mahatma Gandhi and personalities associated with his life, besides sharing brief reflections on his life, while Classes III and IV explored his childhood and values through a storytelling competition narrating incidents from Gandhiji’s childhood and highlighting his ideals of truth, honesty, kindness and courage. Classes V to VII expressed the theme of non-violence through poster designing, while Classes VIII and IX commemorated Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary through innovative stamp designs without using portraits. Students of Classes X to XII created bookmarks inspired by Gandhian values and memorable quotes. Through meaningful participation and creative expression of students, the observance enabled students to reflect on Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity and service, making the occasion a purposeful and enriching learning experience. As part of the Gandhi Jayanti observance, the Campus Care Force (CCF) of M.E.S. conducted a cleanliness drive on the school campus.
