The grand finale of M E S Golden Run was organized in a spectacular manner at the synthetic track of M.E.S Indian School on 24th October marking the school’s golden jubilee year athletic meet – a significant milestone in the school’s colossal history.
The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Mutaz Essa Barshim, a World and Olympic Champion in High Jump, alongside the Guest of Honour, Mr. Irfan Ibrahim, a former Qatar national athlete, and a record holder in the CBSE National Athletic Championship, special invitees Major Saeed Juma Al-Hatemi, Mr. Saleh Salem Mohammed, and Mrs. Asmaa Mohammed Naeeme, distinguished officials from the Ministry of Interior.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Mutaz Essa Barshim hoisted the school flag, and unveiled the logo of the athletic meet, officially declaring the meet open, he also took a salute from the members of an impressive and synchronized march past-display of the contingents representing the school’s Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Houses. The parade was led by Master Mohammed Faneez, Ms. Steffi Vargheese Mathew, Sports Captains of the Boys’ and, Girls’ Section respectively. The Chief Guest in his address congratulated the school for establishing a legacy in the holistic development of students and identifying and fostering students’ athletic prowess to excel in the international sports arena. Addressing the gathering, Dr Hameeda Kadar, the school Principal complimented the students for winning laurels in sports and games by participating enthusiastically in the sports events.
Master Mohammed Faneez, Boys’ Sports Captain, led the oath-taking ceremony reaffirming the athletes’ commitment to fair play and sportsmanship. A moment of pride came when the Olympic torch was carried by young athletes and lit by the Chief Guest in collaboration with Miss Namra, a gifted student from the school. The torchbearers were escorted by a fleet of skaters, adding excitement to the ceremony. A captivating array of cultural performances enthralled the attendees. These visually stunning performances by all sections of the school symbolized the institution’s remarkable unity and coordination.
Earlier, a welcome mass drill coupled with aerobics was performed by the students of the Junior Section followed by an awe-inspiring and graceful callisthenics drill, martial arts, and yoga were the highlights of the special programme held during the ceremony. Members of the school skating team showcased their remarkable skill, parading with flags representing each year from 1974-the founding year of MES Indian School to 2024, commemorating the school’s 50th anniversary.
The sporting events continued with a thrilling 4x100m relay race, featuring participants from different sections competing in a spirited display of teamwork and athleticism. The 100mts race in all categories for students, parents, and teachers was conducted, and the distinguished guests awarded medals to the winners of various events.
Among the dignitaries, Dr Najeeb K P, officiating President, Mr Kashif Jaleel, Vice President, Mr Hazmal Ismail, General Secretary, Mr. Ahamed Isham-Dy. General Secretary, Mr. A.T. Usman- Treasurer, Mr. Badarudheen Gulam Mohiyudheen, Director, Sports & Games, Mr. Ashraf Sharafudheen P.T, Director, Academics, Mr. Ansar T.K. Director, Purchase & Stores, Mr. Aneesh P.A, Director, Project & Maintenance, Mr. Faisal Mayan, Director, Transport, M.E.S Governing Board and members of the M.E.S Governing Body witnessed the grand finale of the Golden Jubilee Athletic Meet of MES Indian School. M.E.S Principal, Dr. Hameeda Kadar, Principal MES Indian School, Ms Pramila Kannan, Principal MES Abu Hamour branch, special invitees, school officials, parents, teachers and students graced the ceremony of the school’s Golden Jubilee annual sports meet.
Mr. Steeson K Mathew, Coordinator and the teachers of the Department of Physical Education organized the event. Earlier, Ms Steffi Vargheese Mathew, Sports Captain of the Girls’ Section, welcomed the gathering, and Master Ahmad Faisal, Head Boy proposed a vote of thanks for the event.
