Splendour and excitement marked the Children’s Day celebrations at M.E.S Indian School. Special assemblies were conducted in all sections of the school in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of free India. Special assemblies, various fun-filled and engaging activities were organized in all the sections of the school to mark the occasion. Dr Hameeda Kadar, the Principal addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of responsibilities towards the nation and urged the students to practice compassion, develop leadership qualities, and follow the ideals of Nehru. Teachers across all sections delivered speeches highlighting the significance of the day.
At the K.G. Section, children in costumes representing different regions and states added colour to the vibrant atmosphere. The festivities at the Junior Section included a range of engaging activities designed for students. Young participants of Grades –I & II took part in “Draw and Describe,” where they illustrated Chacha Nehru’s famous love for roses and explained their drawings in a few sentences. Another activity, ‘A Letter to Chacha Nehru,’ allowed students of Grades –III & IV to express their thoughts on Nehru’s enduring love for children. Mr. Kashi Kumar and Mr. Sameer Pande dressed up as Chacha Nehru and greeted the children. Teachers also presented a skit to portray the importance of Children’s Day.
In the Boys’ and Girls’ Sections various literary and art-related competitions were held, showcasing the students’ talents and their understanding of Chacha Nehru. Grade-V students participated in poem writing contest on the topic “Let’s Build a Better World”. ‘Talking Time’ was conducted for Grade-VI students on the topic “Role of Children in Society” in English periods. Grade-VII students participated in Greeting Card Making on the topic “Children with Chachaji”. Grade-VIII students made paper rose flowers to pay tribute to ‘Chachaji’. The entire program was coordinated by Mrs. Shiney Suresh, Mrs Pradnya Pande, and Mr Davidson, teachers in charge of literary activities.
