In commemoration of the Qatar National Sport Day, M.E.S. Indian School organised a variety of sports competitions to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among students. The events were conducted for students of Classes V to VIII, who actively participated and displayed remarkable enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and team spirit in competitions such as volleyball, handball, football, basketball, and cricket.
The primary objective of organising these activities was to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and the school community, while promoting health awareness and the importance of regular physical activity. In addition to the events for students, there were special competitions organised exclusively for parents and staff members in volleyball, throwball, and cricket, which added vibrancy and excitement to the celebrations, making the event very special. As many as 500 parents participated in the competitions, contributing to the grand success of the program, thus providing a joyful atmosphere and healthy competitive spirit reflect the true essence of Qatar National Sport Day. The event served as a wonderful platform for unity, collaboration, and community engagement, leaving everyone with memorable experiences and a renewed commitment to fitness and well-being.
The Indian Sports Centre (ISC), under the aegis of the Indian Embassy organized a Kho Kho event at Asian Town in connection with Qatar National Sport Day. Around 36 students from MES Indian School participated enthusiastically in the event. Demonstrating excellent teamwork and sporting spirit, the students delivered an impressive performance, emerging as winners as well as runners in the Kids category and winners in the senior category. The event highlighted the importance of sports and physical fitness while fostering community spirit and cultural engagement. In yet another event, the students actively participated in half-marathon run held at Lusail Boulevard conducted in connection with Qatar National Sport Day. About 90 students from boys, girls and junior sections of the school took part in the event and were honoured with medals for their enthusiasm. Basketball, football, and volleyball competitions were conducted for students of Classes 5 to 8 in the girls’ section, offering participants an excellent platform to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. In the junior section, students from Grades 1 to 4 enthusiastically took part in football, handball, and Zumba activities, further enriching their overall physical education experience. These well-structured sporting events were designed to promote physical fitness, instil discipline and enhance coordination, among the participants.
The school Management and the Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar congratulated the winners, players and coaching staff for bringing pride to the institution through their outstanding performance. Mr Salim J. Nadaf, Coordinator, Physical Education Department, in collaboration with his team of staff, coordinated the event.
