To enhance teaching practices incorporating 21st-century skills and equipping teachers with the tools and knowledge needed to foster a positive and effective learning environment for the upcoming academic year, M.E.S Indian School organized a three-day orientation programme for the teaching faculty starting from December 31, 2024.
The programme commenced with an address from the school Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar, who emphasized the importance of collaboration, commitment, and a unified approach to improving academic outcomes of the students.
The programme covered a range of key topics. Mohammed Ilias, Head of Boys’ Section discussed strategies for uplifting low achievers, with special emphasis on practical ways to support and improve students’ academic performance. Teachers in the Girls’ Section were introduced to five academic-oriented resolutions for the New Year and discussed ways to support low achievers. The Junior Section covered key topics such as Cyber Security-Basic Principles and Best Practices by Ms Muhsina Parveen, the Importance of Social Emotional Learning in Education (SEL) by Ms Navya Harish Kumar, and the English Café program to enhance language skills.
The second day of the orientation Programme had the following presentations: “Understanding and Addressing the Needs of Students in Classrooms,” by the Department of Guidance and Counselling providing insights into classroom management techniques and emphasizing the importance of fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. ‘Basic Arabic in Daily Life’, a practical session aimed at familiarizing teachers with common Arabic phrases and expressions and ‘Impact of Language Ability in Modern Classrooms. Jointly organized by Mrs. Sameena Ashfaq and Mrs. Shalima Sameer exploring innovative
approaches to overcome language barriers, promote effective communication, and create a dynamic and interactive learning environment, an engaging quiz on “General Awareness of the School and NEP 2020,” conducted by Mr Davidson, Quiz in Charge testing the knowledge on school’s vision and the framework of the National Education Policy 2020. During the orientation days, teachers developed split-up syllabi to systematically plan curriculum coverage, ensuring steady progress throughout the year.
