M.E.S CONDUCTS WEEK-LONG TEACHERS’ EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME AHEAD OF SCHOOL REOPENING

To prepare educators for the upcoming academic session and as a part of the schools’ Golden Jubilee celebration, M.E.S Indian School organized a week-long activity based staff orientation programme which was designed to equip teachers with the necessary 21st-century skills and knowledge to provide students with quality education.

The orientation began with the school Principal, Dr. Hameeda Kadar, emphasizing on teachers to adopt students centric teaching methodology so as to ensure greater learning outcome. Dr. Hameeda Kadar seized the attention of the faculty members on the topic ‘Happy Classrooms’ emphasizing the need to create a happy classroom environment as it enables a successful teaching-learning process.

 

The activities for the second day of the orientation included a thought-provoking and unique talk show by Mrs. Magdalene Sylvia from the Department of English and a team of educators sharing their experiences in overcoming the odds of life with determination and leading a healthy lifestyle through positive attitude. The Department of Guidance and Counselling conducted a session on the topic ‘Innovative Strategies for Exceptional Learners’ by Ms. Harleen Kaur and Ms. Tulika Mukharjee.

Also, the educators explored critical topics such as ‘Learning Outcomes and Pedagogy, Identifying and Resolving Common Computer Issues and Inclusive Education. These sessions were led by Mrs. Shyna Anil, teacher Department of English, Mr. Haroon, Senior System Admin and Mr. Rajendran, Coordinator, Department of Hindi respectively.

Additionally, the programme included a session on ‘Personal Growth and Leadership Skills’, with the guidance of Mrs. Souda Mohd. Jaleel, Assistant HOS- Girls’ Section. There was a session on  ‘Nurturing Ethical Decision-Making and Problem-Solving Skills in Students through Moral Stories’, led by Mrs. Uzma Fatimee, Head of Junior Section, and Mrs. Vasantha, a teacher in Junior Section. A session on Buddy Teaching by Mrs. Hajeera Kauser encouraged collaborative teaching practices in the Kindergarten.  Mrs. Muhsina Parveen, a Junior Section Computer Teacher, presented a session on ‘Digital Literacy Skills for Effective and Responsible Use of Technology’. Mr Mohammed Ilias, Head of the Boys’ Section, and Mrs Supriya Chaudary, Head of the Girls’ Section jointly

hosted a session on the topic, ‘Know Your Students’ provided crucial insights into academic strategies and students’ learning patterns. Mrs. Shahana and Mrs. Safwa, faculty members of the kindergarten, conducted a session on the topic ‘Creating a Positive Environment to Develop Logical Thinking’.

There were also meetings with teachers of various Departments conducted by Heads of the Departments as a part of preparation for the upcoming Term II, in which HODs and subject coordinators provided detailed training based on the updated training matrix.

Mrs Sibi Susan Thomas, Mr Jency George, Mrs Mary Cynthia, Mrs Seena Ramachandran, Mrs Resmi Ajith Kumar, Mrs Meghna Pashine, Mrs Shari Lijo, Mrs Shameera Shameer, Mrs Hajeera Kouser and Mrs Afreena Mymoonath, members of the school faculty coordinated the event.
