As part of its ‘Learning through Activity’ programme, M.E.S Indian School reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility by presenting a thoughtful contribution of fresh, organically grown vegetables from its school kitchen garden to the Ministry. This symbolic gesture expressed gratitude and support for national initiatives promoting healthy and eco-friendly living.
The harvest function was marked by the esteemed presence of the School Governing Board members, Section Heads and school officials. The initiative, envisioned and led by the school’s Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar, who serves as a model for experiential learning and environmental awareness. A highlight of the initiative was the students’ visit to the Ministry headquarters, where they presented the harvest as a mark of gratitude. The Ministry officials received the delegation warmly, lauded their efforts, and encouraged the students to remain actively engaged in such meaningful community-based initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hameeda Kadar stated, “The Kitchen Garden at M.E.S opens up avenues for students to experience the value of organic farming and sustainability. This hands-on initiative is not just about farming, but about cultivating a generation of environmentally conscious and socially responsible citizens.” The programme was meticulously coordinated by the CCF team comprising Mr Jency George, Mrs Radhika Rajan, Mrs Pradnya Pandey, Mrs Bitty Varghese, and Mrs Harisha Boddula, with invaluable support from non-teaching staff members Mrs Ramla K K and Mr Abdul Gaffar.
The school’s thriving kitchen garden, cultivated and maintained by the dedicated young members of the Campus Care Force (CCF), reflects students’ active engagement in environmental stewardship. Under the guidance of teachers of Campus Care Force, the students enthusiastically carried out their daily gardening duties—planting, nurturing, and harvesting—demonstrating remarkable discipline, care, and teamwork.
