In an endeavour to promote scientific inquiry and inspire creativity among students, MES Indian School organized Golden Expo-2K24, a science, math, art, and Qatar History exhibition on 17th October 2024.
A total of 500 exhibits, in 4 different categories comprising innovative working models and inquiry based projects in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, Informatics Practices, Social Science, Qatar History, Home Science, Commerce, Languages, Art and Craft were exhibited by the students of Classes VI-XII, highlighting the theme of Qatar’s National vision of 2030 sustainable development and scientific solutions for ever-new challenges.
The highlight of the event was the spectacular Golden Memory Train displayed at the sports field representing the journey and growth of the institution from its inception in 1974 till the year of the golden jubilee celebration. An exquisite array of monuments and displays related to Qatar history at the K.G. Section of the school under the banner Qatar History aiming to promote Qatar’s rich culture & civilization and its traditions and customs attracted the visitors. The Junior Section exhibits a visual representation of the concept that they have been studying.
H E Mohammed Nurudeen Ismaila, Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of Ghana- Qatar was the Chief Guest. Dr Rafal Al-Mufti, Dean of the School of Engineering, Oryx, Liverpool University was the Guest of Honour for the event. The Chief Guest upon inaugurating Golden Expo-2K24 in the presence of the members of the School Governing Board that included among others, Dr. Najeeb K.P., President – officiating, Kashif Jaleel, Vice-President; Hazmal Ismail,
General Secretary; Ahamed Isham – Dy. General Secretary remarked that the Expo 2K24 which is a part of the school commemorating its 50 years of proud legacy has engaged in shaping minds and nurturing the talents of future generations of young scientists, mathematicians, artists, and historians. ‘The Expo stands testimony to the fact the school’s relentless pursuit of knowledge, creativity, and innovation. Let us continue to foster an experience of inquiry and the passion of discovery in everything,’ he added. Congratulating students and their mentors for their overwhelming response and enthusiasm, the school Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar said that the Golden Expo-2K24 once again accentuated the school’s commitment to fostering a spirit of inquiry and innovation among its students and added that such initiatives encourage learners to create, innovate and invent further in their scientific quest.
Students with great enthusiasm came up with innovative and astonishing projects, some meeting international standards, and explained their models and experiments enthusiastically. A panel of experts judged and assessed category-wise, and the top three projects from each category were awarded with trophies and certificates. In addition, two more projects from each category were selected to be declared as the ‘Most Commendable Exhibits’ and these exhibits were awarded with special certificates.
The school Principal, Dr. Hameeda Kadar, key school functionaries, teachers, parents, and students were among those who witnessed the Golden Expo-2K24. The school Scouts & Guides, Prefects, and members of the Science Club volunteered to ensure the smooth conduct of the exhibition. Earlier, Rizwa, a teaching faculty member of the Department of English, welcomed the gathering.
