Through their scintillating performances, the girls’ cricket teams of M.E.S Indian School created history for the first time ever, winning Gold Medals in all three categories—Primary, Preparatory, and Secondary of the SOP Cricket Tournament 2026 held recently and organized by the Qatar Cricket Association. This extraordinary achievement vouches for the growing strength of girls’ cricket at school.
The Primary Girls’ Team secured a confident victory by 5 wickets in the final, showing excellent coordination. The Preparatory Girls’ Team displaying remarkable composure under pressure fought a thrilling battle to emerge victorious by 3 wickets, while the Secondary Girls delivered a dominant performance, defeating opponent by a 50-run lead thus showcasing excellence in all departments of the game. Throughout the tournament, the girls demonstrated outstanding skill, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Their performances reflected months of dedicated training, strong mental toughness, and a winning mindset.
The school Principal, Dr. Hameeda Kadar lauded the outstanding achievement, congratulating the players for their remarkable performances and applauding the relentless dedication of the coach in shaping the teams into formidable champions saying, ‘This rare and remarkable accomplishment marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time the school has achieved a clean sweep of titles in all categories of the tournament.’ The Primary Girls’ Team was led by the Captain, Laiha Hayal- 7 M, while Isra Rafeeq – 9 R and Jaza Rafeeq – 11 I captained the Preparatory and Secondary Girls’ Teams respectively. Special appreciation was extended to Coach Ms. Kabia Badoni, whose sustained efforts, meticulous training, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in this phenomenal win.
