As a part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of M.E.S Indian School, an inter-school musical reality show was organized in collaboration with Radio 98.6 at the Conference Hall of the school. The competition commenced on 19th September 2024 as the members of the school Governing Board inaugurated the event in the presence of of Ms. Meghna Surendran, a renowned social media influencer and singer, who served as the special guest. The competition spanned over five exciting days of musical performances by talented participants from various schools with renowned singers served as judges, thus ensuring fair and expert evaluations of the participants’ performances.
The first round featured performances in three categories: Pallavi of a melody, fast song, and semi-classical renditions. Out of the 23 participants who showcased their talents, 15 were selected to proceed to the next round. On the second day, the participants performed melodies, while the third day was dedicated to fast-paced numbers. Both days were filled with spectacular performances, further narrowing down the competition. After the semi-classical performances, the competition saw eliminations, reducing the number of participants to five finalists for the grand finale.
The grand finale took place on 10th October, culminating in an evenly poised musical contest. Mr Riyas R K, the winner of GCC Best Singer was the Special Guest. Acclaimed and noted personalities from the realm of music: Ms Aishwarya Vaidyanatthan, Mr Manikanda Das, Mr Arvind Kumar adjudged the singing performances of the five finalists of the evening. Miss Vaishnavi from Birla Public School for her spectacular performance was declared as the title winner of the M.E.S Golden Tunes Musical Reality Show winning 8 grams of gold as the prize. Ms.Pooja Santhosh of Birla Public School bagged the 1st Runner Up position securing 4 grams of gold as the prize and Ms Shravya Woody of Doha Modern Indian School bagged 2nd Runner Up position securing 2 grams of gold. Ms Samadrita Basu of DPS Monarch International School and Alvia Saji of MES Indian School secured 4th and 5th position respectively winning mementoes and gifts to their credit. The felicitation ceremony was conducted after the
competition, during which prizes were awarded to the winners as well as the other 10 participants by the directors of the school management. Additionally, video messages and messages from celebrities: Mr. Kaithapram Damodaran Nair, Mr. M Jayachandran, Mr. Madhu Balakrishnan, Ms. Sithara Krishna Kumar, Mr. Kannur Shareef, and Mr. Najim Arshad were conveyed to the participants, thus further elevating the prestige of the occasion.
The dignitaries present at the Grand Finale among others were Mr Kashif Jaleel, Vice- President, Mr Ahmed Isham, Deputy General Secretary, Mr Usman A, Treasurer, M.E.S Governing Board, along with Directors of the Governing Board, Mr Ashraf Sharafudheen P.T, Mr Fasalau P.P, Mr Ansar T.K, Mr Aneesh P.A, Mr Faisal Mayan, Principals of expatriate schools, media representatives, school officials, parents and students. Mr Anvar K and Mrs Sumitha Abdul Nassar, Cultural Coordinators of the respective sections were the General Conveners of the event. Members of the Department of Music, Mr Anwar, V P, Mrs Kavitha G and Mrs Mallika Shaji coordinated the event. Sheza Fathima, Head girl and Aryan Unnikrishnan, Head prefect presented the introduction for the event while Steffi Varghese Mathew and Mohammed Salim welcomed and proposed a vote of thanks respectively for the programme.
