The Jota-Joti event organized by the World Scouts Association is a significant global gathering, promoting interaction among scouts from different countries and regions through modern communication technology.
About 2 scouts and 2 guides from M.E.S Indian School along with their in-charge teachers, Mr Rajesh K S (Overall in-charge, Scouts and Guides) and Ms. Blessy Peter M, (Guide Leader) attended the Jota-Joti-2025 at Qatar Amateur Radio Society held recently. The event brought together 14 schools and was graced by guests including Mr. Sabaan Al Jassin (General Secretary of Amateur Radio in Qatar), Mr. Ahmed Al-Mahanadi (Vice President of Qatar Amateur Radio Society) Mr. Ahmed Khamis B Al-Yousef (Scout Activities Consultant), Mrs. Muna Jumah Al Mansouri (First Scout Activities Expert) and Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur Bhullar (Coordinator for Expatriate Schools).
The event commenced with a lighting ceremony followed by the recitation of the Scout Oath and motto. Mr. Jogesh Dewan(Communication Engineer)successfully established radio contact and communicated with scouts from Portugal and Lisbon, experiencing the power of international connectivity through amateur radio technology.
The participation provided the students with invaluable exposure to global scouting fellowship, modern communication technology, cross-cultural interaction, and reinforced the core values of scouting including teamwork, camaraderie, international understanding, and effective communication skills, making it a highly enriching and memorable experience.
