M.E.S SETS UP ‘SUGAR BOARDS’ PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVING AMONG STUDENTS

As a part of its ongoing commitment to student health and well-being, MES Indian School, has taken the initiative to establish a ‘Sugar Boards’ on the campus. The initiative is in line with the recommendations of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), which has urged schools to take proactive measures to address the alarming rise of sugar consumption among students.

The Sugar Board at MES Indian School has been designed to create awareness among students about the risks associated with excessive sugar intake. It displays key information such as the recommended daily sugar limits, the sugar content in commonly consumed foods and beverages, the health hazards of high sugar consumption and healthier dietary alternatives. By making this information visually accessible, the school aims to encourage students to make informed dietary choices and adopt healthier lifestyles. Further, the Sugar Board serves as a constant reminder for students to choose health over habit-forming sugary foods. This initiative taken by the school emphasizes that with the growing prevalence of Type 2 diabetes, obesity and lifestyle-related disorders among students, schools have a crucial role to play in educating young learners about the importance of nutrition and balanced diets.

In addition to setting up boards, the school tends to conduct awareness workshops and seminars for students to further reinforce the message of healthy eating. ‘M.ES Indian School steps forward to continue upholding its vision of nurturing not only academic excellence but also the holistic well-being of its students,’ remarked the school Principal, Dr Hameda Kadar.
