M.E.S STUDENTS INTERACT WITH SCIENTISTS AT KATARA SPACE SCIENCE PROGRAMME

Katara Space Science Programme was held at Al Thuraya Planetarium on Tuesday, 24th September 2024. Teachers and students from various schools attended the function. About 9 boys and 10 girls from MES Indian School participated in the programme,

Prof. Dr Essam Heggy, (Space and Radar scientist, NASA) delivered an amazing presentation titled ‘How Mapping Water on Mars Helps Resolve Middle East Climate Questions!’, Ms.Lalitha (Retired Associative project director, ISRO) presented a session on the ‘Journey of a space scientist’. Mr. K. Ramachandran (Retired Vehicle Director, ISRO) discussed “Space Technology Matters” outlining the impact of space technology on everyday life and future advancements and encouraging students to explore this magnificent field science.

 

A science quiz was conducted in which attendees participated eagerly for a chance to win surprise gifts. The hands-on experience activities initiated by Dr.Heggy provided participants with practical skills in probing planetary surfaces using Radar waves. Participants had the opportunity to take photographs with scientists. Mrs. Sanooja Shyamala and Mrs.Thahiya Ansar, members of the science faculty accompanied the students.
