MES PAYS GLOWING TRIBUTE TO GANDHI DURING GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATI

M.E.S Indian School celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi with zeal and fervor. To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a great Indian leader and inspiring freedom fighter, an array of activities were conducted in all sections of the school.

Special assemblies were conducted to commemorate Gandhi’s noble qualities of love, non-violence and simplicity. Students delivered speeches paying glowing tribute to the Father of the Indian nation and highlighting the significance of adhering to non-violence, simplicity and brotherhood in the present-day context.

The students of KG 1 participated in a Fancy Dress Competition, where they came dressed as various iconic figures from India’s freedom struggle. The young participants showcased their costumes thus portraying personalities of great importance such as Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and others, emphasizing the values of peace, non-violence, and simplicity. Meanwhile, KG 2 students took part in an elocution competition. In the Junior Section, Ahmed Zayan portrayed the role of Gandhi, while Aydin Rahman, Zara Fatima, and Muhammed Zayan performed a skit on the ‘Three Monkeys of Gandhi.’

In the Boys’ Section, special events were conducted focusing on Gandhi’s values of peace, non-violence, and self-reliance. A striking formation of a charkha, created by 350 enthusiastic students on the school grounds, symbolized Gandhiji’s ideals of simplicity and unity. In the Girls’Section of the school various literary and art-related competitions like Colour Pencil Drawing on Gandhi with Children (classes 5&6), Poster Designing on Non-Violence (Classes7&8) Gandhian Calender (Classes 9&10) and Essay Writing (Classes 11&12) on Lal Bahadur Shastri: The Architect of India’s Resilience” were conducted, wherein students actively participated.

In their speeches, teachers highlighted the relevance of Gandhi’s principles today, encouraging students to embrace truth, non-violence, and self-sufficiency. The teachers in charge of the Literary Activity of their respective sections of the school coordinated the day’s celebration under the guidance of the Heads of Sections.
