MES STUDENTS ENTHUSED ABOUT SUNSPOT OBSERVING ACTIVITY

With an objective of fostering curiosity, exploration and record changes in sunspots on an image of the sun, the students of MES Indian School enthusiastically participated in a Sunspot Observing Activity on February 19, 2025. Organized by Qatar Calendar House, as a part of the prestigious Qatar Astronomy Olympiad, the event provided students with an invaluable opportunity to observe sunspots through advanced telescopes, enhancing their understanding of solar phenomena.

The observing session was led by Dr. Bashir Marzoke, an esteemed astronomer from Qatar Calendar House, who explained the significance of sunspots in solar studies. Students eagerly participated in the event, demonstrating immense curiosity as they explored solar flares, sunspot cycles, and the impact of solar activity on Earth. Students’ enthusiasm and curiosity reflected MES Indian School’s legacy of academic excellence. Having secured medals in previous editions of the Qatar Astronomy Olympiad, MES continues to shine in science education. The school administration looks forward to fostering more such experiences and inspiring young minds to pursue astronomy and scientific research.
