VEGETABLE HARVESTING: A SUSTAINABILITY SUCCESS FOR M.E.S

In a remarkable display of green thumb prowess, and as a part of extending support to Qatar’s efforts to encourage fresh, organic, healthy and locally grown vegetables, the members of Campus Care Force of M.E.S Indian School reaped the rewards of their hard work as they proudly presented their bountiful vegetable harvest in the presence of the school management at the school campus recently. Carried out under the guidance of the school staff and volunteers, the garden initiative of the school has turned out to be a thriving source of fresh produce that yielded a diverse array of vegetables ranging from leafy greens and aromatic herbs to vibrant pumpkin, okra, bitter gourd, ash gourd etc.

Besides the practical skills gained through this hands-on gardening experience, the students could foster a sense of belonging to the community and teamwork among the students which enables them to showcase their dedication to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Further, these efforts of students serve as an inspiring example of how young minds can make a tangible difference in promoting a healthier and more sustainable future.

‘With this harvest, the students not only reap nutritious rewards but also gain valuable life lessons of taking responsibility, exhibiting patience and attaching themselves to nature by caring for the environment. From the garden of produce to the table, the initiatives of the students serve as a testament to the influence of education and collective action in cultivating a greener and a more vibrant world’, opined the school Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar. As the students proudly display their harvest, they invite the community to join them in celebrating their accomplishments.
