M.E.S Indian School marked World Environment Day with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices, in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the school’s mission of nurturing responsible global citizens.
The highlight of the celebration was the initiative under the slogan, “Each One, Plant One”, where students brought saplings and indoor plants to school, reflecting their commitment to green living and contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet. In the Kindergarten the celebration began with a cheerful warm-up session, followed by a moving performance of the action song “Heal the World.” A colourful ramp walk featured students dressed as various green objects and animals, each carrying a message about the importance of saving nature. Students also performed dances, spreading joy while reinforcing their bond with nature. Teachers led interactive discussions about key environmental habits like keeping surroundings clean, saving water, and reducing waste. A special seed-sowing activity provided a hands-on experience for the young students, teaching them how small actions can lead to significant changes on Earth.
The celebrations in the Boys’ and Girls’ Sections included a cleanliness drive across Grades 5 to 12. In a creative extension of the celebrations, the school launched a Home Garden Video Presentation Contest for students of Grades 6 to 8. This contest invited students to showcase their personal home gardens in a one -minute video, emphasizing creativity, clear narration in English. The initiative aimed to promote gardening as a hobby and encourage students to connect with nature at home. The Guides unit organised a series of purposeful and environmentally impactful activities under the theme ‘Our Land, Our Future.’ The celebration began with an organized clean-up drive across the school campus.Guides, equipped with gloves and eco-friendly garbage bags, actively participated in collecting plastic waste, paper, and other litter. This initiative aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of pollution and the importance of maintaining cleanliness in our immediate surroundings. In observance of World Environment Day, an awareness video was played in the
classrooms of the Junior Section. Children expressed their thoughts and understanding of environmental conservation through assembly. Head Boy, Master Jonah and Bulbul Captain Ayra delivered speeches. CCF Captain, Master Aditya Prashanth created awareness about the importance of Environment Day.
Commending the students for their active participation, the school Principal, Dr. Hameeda Kadar, emphasized the need for environmental action and urged them to continue adopting eco-friendly habits in daily life. The campaign was led by members of the Campus Care Force and Scouts, and was successfully coordinated by Mr. Jency George, (In-charge, Campus Care Force), Mrs. Radhika Rajan, Mrs. Pradnya Pande, (CCF Coordinators), Mr. Rajesh K.S, Mrs Asha V Nair, Mrs.Fency (In-charge, Scouts, Guides and Cubs & Bulbuls), Mr. Sreejith K.N, Mrs. Nazanin Salim Nadaf, Mrs. Rassia Hamza (Event Managers), Mr. Anwar K. and Mr. Semeer H, ensuring full engagement and shared achievement
